Using a tumblog has been fun for many because it is less limiting than a traditional blog where you would normally have to sit down and write out a longer length post.
Given that Tumblr allows for instant and easy sharing, it would only be right if there were a few good ways to blog to your Tumblr from mobile options, which I’ll be covering today.
Tumblr Mobile
To get started with Tumblr for your smartphone or tablet PC, you should look to downloading the official Tumblr apps, of which I know there is one for the Apple platforms.
Here is a link for the Tumblr app on the iTunes store.
Additionally, here is a link to the Tumblr Goodies section, which includes apps for BlackBerry, Android, etc.
As noted before, keeping an updated blog is a key component of gaining more Tumblr followers and growing a successful blog.
The reviews for these apps tend not to be the most favorable, however, so instead of limiting us to being stuck with an app that may not suite your needs (the iTunes app doesn’t include things like “search” and other features) we need to look into other options for posting mobile updates.
Tumblr offers a great way to publish posts from your phone or tablet via a very easy email system.
To start, get your private email address from the Settings page for your blog. (It should be fairly random, add this to your contacts as that is the email you will need to send to in order to get posts published to your blog specifically).
You can access the Settings for a specific blog from the management page for that blog.
Click on the blog’s title at the top of your Dashboard or under the list icon at the top right of the Dashboard. Then click Settings on the right side of the screen.
To help you out, I’ve included a screenshot from my settings page, with my private email blacked out.
So find this random email, and add it to your contacts as mentioned above.
The best part about posting from email is that Tumblr will automatically decipher which type of post you are trying to send, categorize it as such (accurately, I might say), and then post it to your blog.
This means you can send a text email, photos, a link, a quote, an audio file, anything that you could do from your dashboard, Tumblr will detect via email and post to your blog.
Tumblr Mobile… Apps?
Tumblr as a list of 3rd party applications that you can also browse to see if you can find anything that will assist you in posting to Tumblr.
Disclaimer: I have to note here that these apps, although they work with Tumblr, are not officially supported by Tumblr, so you have to be weary that these are not official Tumblr services and you will be handing over account information to some of them (such as if your profile includes your name & age and such).
I hope this post as been useful for helping your post to Tumblr on the go, if it has please share this post with your followers, thanks!
